It is easy to come up with our top ten sex toys list as we are told by our customers what they like, what works and what doesn't work. People vote with their pocket books and wallets and the votes are conclusive. Either by word of mouth or other means people discover what sex toys provide them the most satisfaction and they will buy that product over and over again. Our sex toys top ten list is an attempt to reveal our opinions of todays top ten sex toys. This list will change over time but many of these sex toys have been in the top ten for a number of years. Innovation will change this list over time but take it for what it is worth. Sex toys are what used to be marital aids and often referred to as adult toys or adult novelties. Sex toys comprise a broad number of products that men and women use to enhance their sex lives. Today sex toys are usually used in and around people having sex, but they definitely are not toys. Toys suggest children, having fun, enjoying yourself and whatever having or buying a toy means to you. One thing is for certain, sex toys are for every adult, not children and they are sure a lot of fun. Yes, fun because first and foremost they are toys as opposed to tools although the term sex tools strikes me as better than sex toys. Tools because they are used to perform certain acts, reach certain goals and they have a specific purpose. Sex gadgets are not a bad description as many are more gadgets than toys, to be certain. How about romance toys? Well we used that term for a while but couples were confused as romance and sex are not always the same thing, although they are kissing cousins some of the time. Do you prefer sex enhancers? I like that one as I think it may be the most descriptive term as these sex toys are intended to enhance sex. Many like the term adult toy although I think this is too general and can be misleading. I think of an adult toy as perhaps a motorcycle, an all terrain vehicle- ATV or other adult toys that could include sex toys but might not. The term sex toys was coined by someone I suppose and adults are entitled to have some fun in their lives and most would agree that sex if fun. Usually not spoken about in polite company this article will attempt to scratch the surface of adult toys, what is popular and why, what to buy and what to avoid and finally which sex toys are the most fun! So whatever you call them, whether you own any, are thinking about buying one or want to know a little more about them then this article is for you.
People ask us frequently what the best sex toys to buy are and our answer generally is to take a look at our best selling sex toys. Now just because these sex toys are popular doesn't mean that you should buy them but on the other hand there is a lot of word of mouth advertising that goes on with sex toys. Popularity often means more than just who gets the most votes, or what sells the best. I often look at best seller lists just to see what is hot and what is not. So use this list with a certain amount of restraint as it is compiled by a lingerie website that also sells sex toys. What does that matter? Well, since we don't sell porn videos and we appeal primarily to women and men buying things for women our list is clearly skewed. We admit it proudly and don't profess that this list is the list of best selling sex toys on the web or even in a particular state. A site appealing to homosexual men that also sells sex toys might expect to sell a lot of prostate massagers for example. We, on the other hand were advised by our wholesalers that male prostate massagers were hot sellers and we should carry them. We don't sell a lot of them primarily because we do not get a lot of male homosexual buyers that are also attracted to women's sexy lingerie.
Also the best sellers tend to be the products that work best, that people have enjoyed using and are generally a safe bet. Good products sell well over time as you don't get a lot of repeat buyers, and the word of mouth advertising that everyone has heard about is quite effective. We have seen, in the past that items that were featured on the old television show "Sex in the City" were very popular products. The reasons for that vary, but many things can affect best selling lists. We suggest you use the best seller however you like, understanding that it is likely going to be different within a month or two as tastes, styles and new products enter the market place weekly. Use the best seller list in conjunction with your own likes and dislikes, visit forums that discuss sexuality, alternate lifestyles and read what other couples use and how they like the product. Trusting retailers is part of the mix but first make sure you trust the retailer before you jump into a product. Wholesalers love to sell products just like retailers. Often wholesalers will disclose their best selling products as a means of informing retailers about what to buy, the latest trends and what is new in the market. A retailer will buy a product because it is on a wholesaler's best selling list for no other reason than it is a "best seller". It can be like the blind leading the blind leading the blind if you aren't careful. Ask questions and then ask a couple more. If a retailer doesn't know the answer and can't or fails to get the answer to your questions I suggest you find another retailer. Many retailers stock products that they know little of nothing about. They hire staff who knows less than they know and you the unsuspecting consumer think they know something about the product. It isn't that you shouldn't trust a retailer; you should give them a reasonable opportunity to earn your business. Any reputable retailer will jump at the opportunity to gain a new buyer if all it takes is answering questions about a product. If she doesn't know a phone call or email will get the answer from a wholesaler or manufacturer.
One thing to look for in best seller lists is trends that tell you what is selling well. Why does that matter to you? Often best sellers work in groups as I previously mentioned. Our best seller list is clearly selling to a female oriented audience and that is a good thing. Go to a site that specializes in the things you are looking for and see how their best seller list differs from another. Bondage sites will almost certainly have different best sellers as they attract a different crowd, so to speak. The bondage crowd is different from the lesbian crowd that is different from the transgender crowd. While you knew this intuitively you may not have really applied it to retail shopping. Like everything else you may not know about the area of sex toys is full of new products, innovation and people who can't get enough of them. No wonder since the products discussed here are singularly to make people happier, sexier and satisfied. Opinions vary on the use of sex toys but few disagree that what consenting adults do in the privacy of their bedrooms is no ones business but theirs.
Our sweet sixteen best selling sex toys are listed below and see what you think about them and why they are in the top ten. Why sixteen top selling sex toys instead of ten? We had a difficult enough time paring it down to 16 as there are plenty of other sex toys that are selling extremely well but we had to cut it off somewhere. We have tried to bring you at least one from most categories to make the list more useful than just the top selling toys.
1. Vibrators : Although number one is not one single sex toy we felt the category deserved the position. Vibrators were invented in the late 1800's by a man named Kelsey Stinner. Apparently women suffered from a condition known as female hysteria. The electric vibrator was used by Doctors to relieve the condition as doing so manually with considered too time consuming. While we can look back in wonder at those times, the vibrator has had an interesting history with the first electric vibrator for retail use was patented by the Hamilton Beach Company in 1902. Hamilton Beach is popular these days for making quality blenders and other household and kitchen appliances. From these humble beginnings we have arrived at vibrators being made by companies who generally are manufacturers of adult novelties and generally not by companies who market mainstream products as vibrators are no longer marketed for medicinal purposes as in the past. Generally vibrators are viewed as used for women's sexual enjoyment and most, if not all, mainstream do not want anything to do with that image or market. Consistently over the last nine years vibrators of all kinds have been at number one on our online site and our retail store as well the vibrator is king, or should I say queen. Whether it be the rabbit which does deserve and gets special recognition as our number two best seller, vibrators are actually girl's best friends. Forget about diamonds as everyone can afford a vibrator and it clear as to the reasons why.
2. I Vibe Rabbit Vibrator : Coming in at number two is the rabbit vibrator which has come a long way in a relatively short time as far as sex toys go. Rabbit vibrators are thought to have been invented in Japan where many of the adult novelties are made. The rabbit and all other vibrators are simple motors that vibrate, rotate or otherwise move about thus the Japanese and other Pacific Rim countries have dominated the manufacturing market for many years. Inexpensive to make the standard vibrator has been exported to America and the recent innovations such as the Rabbit have enjoyed enormous popularity for a couple of reasons. First is the unique design that satisfies women who prefer a vaginal insertion as the rabbit has the initial design of a tube with a head often molded to resemble a male penis. Additionally the rabbit portion vibrates to give women who want a clitoral orgasm exactly what they want and need. Many women who use the rabbit vibrator swear by it and won't use any other vibrator as it satisfies every need a vibrator can. Other women simply don't like the rabbit for the same reasons as there is too much going on at the same time. Both of these groups are right but the rabbit vibrator is here to stay and likely will have enormous popularity for the foreseeable future.
3. G-Spot Vibrator : The g-spot vibrator makes the list due its sales rank but there are some concerns about its ability to remain a high ranking contender. Many women don't really care about their g-spot, thus don't believe they need a vibrator designed to stimulate the mysterious spot. The g-spot vibrator has a curved tip that is designed to send vibrations directly to the g-spot. Many women have responsive g-spots, while others don't seem too concerned whether they have one and why should they care. There is still a great deal of controversy, disagreement and confusion about the elusive g-spot. Some scientists argue as to whether it even exists. Others who support its existence disagree as to how stimulating the gland can be. Further more many women simply find stimulating the gland to be annoying and don't find it pleasurable. Perhaps it is still too early to know how the g-spot argument is going to turn out. Our best advice is to try it for yourself and learn how your body's g-spot "works". Reading about it is a great place to start but don't put too much pressure on yourself if you don't react the way other women do to g-spot stimulation. The opinions about g-spot stimulation are all over the board and perhaps unlike clitoral stimulation g-spot stimulation will not be pleasurable for some women. If it feels good do it, like the old saying goes, but if it doesn't it doesn't mean you are doing it wrong. It seems that clitoral stimulation as well as vaginal orgasms are plenty for many women and that is their right and who can argue. Do women need to have g-spot stimulation? Apparently not as much as many manufacturers would like. The g-spot vibrator is here to stay and women who want g-spot stimulation will have this option as they desire.
4. Pocket Rocket Mini Vibrator : When someone asks what is in a name, think about the pocket rocket! The pocket rocket is a term to describe a mini vibrator and it is a brand name. Here we add the pocket rocket to our list as the branded name vibrator as some of the imitators are winners. The pocket rocket is about 4 to 5 inches long and most come with hard plastic interchangeable heads. The vibrator provides intense vibrations, particularly considering its size. Pocket rocket vibrators win because they are powerful, discreet and easy to hold and use. While size queens (women who love men and vibrators that exceed a specific penis size, say 8 inches) won't be enamored of the pocket rocket many other women will. Be discreet is a major attribute for women who don't want neighbors, children and other prying eyes to know they use a vibrator. After all sexual intimacy is no ones business other than your own. Explaining why you have a 7 inch dildo on your bed is not easy as opposed to a 4 inch vibe about the width of a magic marker. Some women may not like the Pocket Rocket as it is not powerful enough; it is hard to beat its size, power for its size and ease of use. Many are waterproof so for many it is the perfect little vibrator.
5. Kama Sutra Oil of Love : While not technically a sex toy, many massage products are sold along with sex toys as they are in the same extended family. Massages and sexual foreplay are closely related thus the inclusion of massage oils from Kama Sutra. While many massage oils of good quality are made, Kama Sutra has the whole package. The Oil of Love comes in different scents and has a following that won't settle for anything less. The products are tastefully packaged and often given as gifts to brides to be, newlyweds and at bachelorette parties. Kama Sutra brands often are packaged in gift packs as well offering a sampling of the massage oils, powders and even lubricants.
6. Astro Glide Lubricant : Personal or sexual lubricants belong in every top ten list and they make our top sixteen as a perennial favorite of women and men. Whether you are a couple or single you need lubricants and many people just don't know it. Once you use a lubricant for masturbation or sexual intercourse and especially anal intercourse you will likely agree. Using a vibrator without lubricant can be a painful mistake and is not suggested. Lubricants come in water, oil or silicone based and some research needs to be done to determine what works best for you.
7. Sensations Adult Board Game : While board games have plummeted in popularity since the advent of the internet, adult board games continue to be popular. The wide range of adult board games runs from foreplay to sex to drinking games and everything in between. Many people don't think they need games, suggestions, Kama sutra positions to enrich their sex lives and that is a non starter. These games can be fun and stimulating especially when played with another couple or more than two couples. They can break the ice with couples as well as making it very easy to get creative. Rather than risking being the one to suggest something very risqué, why not have the board game require it as a result of pulling the losing hand? While not for everyone, the Sensations Adult Board Game is the most popular board game with Strip Poker and Drinking Games around the World also ranking high.
8. Clitoral Stimulant Cream : Many women ask whether we carry something like Viagra, but for women. At this time we are not aware of any prescription for women that acts like Viagra, Cialis and Levitra that offer men assistance in obtaining an erection. There are clitoral stimulant creams that do vastly improve women's blood flow and sensations in her clitoral area and many women report great satisfaction with these creams. Rubbed directly into the clitoris 5-10 minutes before intercourse the creams help with blood flow and that increases the stimulation experienced by women. Some women need more cream than others and may require additional applications to enjoy the effect.
9. Stay Hard Desensitizing Cream : Although a source of many comedians' punch lines, premature ejaculation isn't funny to men and their partners. The stay hard lines of men's delay creams do help men maintain longer erections. These creams do not make a man's penis harder or stay erect longer as the names and descriptions may suggest or imply. What they do is reduce the sensation wherever the cream is applied thus delaying ejaculation. This delay thus means the man's erection lasts longer. The theory behind this product is the less sensation a man feels in his penis the longer it will take for him to climax.
10. Our First Bondage Kit : One of the best things about sex for many couples is the sense of exploration of each other, sexual preferences and often alternative sexual techniques and even exploring "forbidden" sexual acts. Bondage is one of those areas for many although hugely misunderstood and mischaracterized. For those of us who have not engaged in various sexual activities the mystery is pretty intoxicating while others consider it a yawner. To some bondage means pain and most don't want anything to do with pain. The more adventurous "I will try anything once" crowd will give it a go. Our First Bondage Kit is soft bondage and is hugely popular, more than you might imagine. Being the dominant partner often falls to the male, but often women want that role. In gay relationships the role of dominant versus submissive is often a matter of choice more than traditional female and male roles. Whatever the nature of your relationship bondage is a potentially erotic, exciting area worthy of exploration.
If we haven't gotten to a sex toy you want more information about don't despair as we have a series of articles about sex toys and while these ten sex toys are worthy of mention they are many more we are excited about and want to share with you.
